KDDD’s Medallion Hunt The 2026 Medallion Hunt kicks off on Monday, June 1st.
How it works: Tune in to KDDD. At some highly classified and unpredictable moment during the 9 AM, noon, and 5 PM hours, you will hear Ding Dong Daddy from Dumas followed by a Medallion Hunt clue.
One (and only one) clue is released each weekday, and aired three times: 9 AM, noon, and 5 PM hours. The same clue airs all three times that day. A new clue will be released the following weekday.
After a clue airs the third time (during the 5 PM hour) it is locked away in The Clue Vault and is never spoken of again. Ever.
The QR Code at participating sponsor locations (see below) is your only hope of getting that, or any past clues. It is updated at 6 PM each weekday and is your key to unlock The Clue Vault, where you’ll find the full archive of past clues. A new clue will be released each weekday until the Medallion is discovered.
NOTE: Scanning the QR code will not give you a head start, nor will it unlock top-secret clues ahead of schedule. (Nice try, though). It’s there to help you catch up, not skip ahead. You still have to listen to the radio if you want the freshest clue first! Tune in at 9 AM, noon & 5 PM to catch the clue as it airs.
How to listen: Tune in to 95.3 FM Dumas / 96.5 FM Amarillo, or stream KDDD using the LIVE365 (free app) or Driven-Media.net/KDDD.
To download the LIVE365 app: Download the app by visiting the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play Store (Android) > Search 95.3 KDDD > Tap the heart icon to add to Favorites.
How to Play: The KDDD Medallion is hidden on public property somewhere inside or near the city of Dumas. Listen for the clues, track down the Medallion, and return it to KDDD to collect $953!
If you’re the mastermind who finds the hidden medallion, contact KDDD immediately during business hours to claim the glory. Phone: 806-935-4141 | 408 N Dumas Ave., Dumas, Texas
The winner, if under age 18, must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to claim the prize.
RULES
- Be Safe: Stay off of busy highways. Do not touch utility setups of any kind. No climbing.
Think Sherlock Holmes, not Indiana Jones. - Respect Property: No digging, climbing, or dismantling of any structure is required to find the Medallion and will not be tolerated. Do not drive or park where there is no road or driveway.
- No Trespassing: Do not enter private property. Our bail budget is exactly zero dollars.
- Support Local: The hunt is designed to bring foot traffic to our amazing sponsors (see below). Thank them for making the Medallion Hunt possible by doing business with them!
- Our Lips are Sealed: KDDD staff are sweeter than pecan pie, but interrogating them won’t get you anywhere—they are utterly clueless! Seriously, trying to extract secrets from them is like asking a cactus for directions. Calling the station or sliding into our DMs will get you exactly zero answers, so save your phone battery. Keep your ears glued to the radio or head to a participating sponsor location (see below).
- Friendly Reminder: The Medallion is not hidden on the Window on the Plains Museum property, so please help us respect their space and skip the museum grounds on your search.
Thanks for keeping the hunt safe, fun and respectful for everyone!
FAQs
- When does it start? The 2026 Medallion Hunt kicks off with Clue #1 on Monday, June 1, 2026.
- How often do clues air? Only one clue airs per day – three times per day. A new clue will air the following weekday, each weekday until the Medallion is found.
- What happens to old clues? Once a clue airs three times, it is scrubbed from the airwaves and officially classified. At 6 PM, it is added to The Clue Vault – accessible only by scanning the Secret QR Code at a participating sponsor location (see below).
- There are two ways to get the clues:
- First and foremost, listen to KDDD to catch the clues on-air.
- If you miss a clue on the radio, you can visit a Medallion Hunt Sponsor (see below) and scan the Secret QR Code to catch up on the full vault.
NOTICE: We do not recap old clues on the airwaves, nor will we recap them over the phone or via social media. If you missed a day, do not call the station—put on your walking shoes, visit a sponsor, and scan that QR code!
How to scan the Secret QR Code:
- Locate the Target: Visit a participating sponsor location (see sponsor list below) and find the Secret QR Code.
- Whip Out Your Smartphone: Open your phone’s camera app. If you are still using a flip phone, we admire your dedication to the early 2000s, but you’re going to need an upgrade for this.
- The Point & Hover: Aim your camera at the Secret QR Code like you’re taking a high-stakes photo of a rare bird. Don’t blink.
- Tap the Magic Link: A little yellow link banner will pop up on your screen. Tap it instantly to unlock The Clue Vault.
Shop Local: Thank our sponsors for making the Medallion Hunt possible by shopping with them!
